I made ice cream yesterday for the first time in a very long time. We got our ice cream maker as a wedding present and used it a little bit as newlyweds, but then it got boxed up for our move back to Utah and has remained in the box for the last 9 years. Until yesterday. I called my mom for her recipe. I have adjusted it for our ice cream maker. Here is the adjusted recipe:
Vanilla Ice Cream
3 eggs
8 c. half and half
2 c. sugar
4 t. vanilla
1 1/2 t. salt
2-3 drops lemon flavor (optional, but this is what makes it awesome)
Beat egg with 2 c. half and half. Add sugar, vanilla, salt and lemon flavor and mix well. Add remaining half and half. Freeze in ice cream freezer according to freezer directions.
We had Thanksgiving dinner with Emilie Koford and family at her parents' house. It was so fun! We had way too much food, especially pie. The kids loved playing together and we had a great chat. We had three dinner parties in the last week with friends. I can't believe how blessed we are with so many great friends. It makes being away from family a lot easier.
