Macro

I got a new lens! She's beautiful. A zoom walk around that will work great for portraits, landscapes and interiors. While I was at George's Camera, I signed up for a macro class. It was today. Here's my favorite image from the class.

I stood the dandelion up in the straw of my diet soda.
I didn't like the boring brown wall behind it, so I taped some blue tickets up on the wall.
Then I played with different focus points, and I liked the front focus the best.
Then a class member suggested I use my white piece of paper to reflect some light onto the "flower".
The extra light is what made this picture for me. I really like it.

Here are some things I learned about Macro photography:
  • always, always use a tripod
  • turn off autofocus, use manual focus only
  • turn off stabilization
  • watch out for wind!
  • adobe lightroom for organizing and golden spiral composition
  • a remote helps
  • it's super duper hard
