The girls got lots of cousin time the past couple of weeks. First, Debbie and family came to Del Mar for their family vacation. They stayed in Colleen's time share condo. It is so amazing! The condo sits on the cliffs right above the beach and has the most amazing view. The pool was right next to their unit and was so warm! We visited them several days at the condo and walked to the beach or enjoyed the pool with them. We also went to the zoo together. We love the San Diego zoo!
On Sunday I woke up at 2:30 a.m. anxious about our drive to Utah and by 4:00 a.m. I had showered, packed, and loaded the girls. It ended up being great timing. We had no traffic and didn't need to stop until Las Vegas. We made it to Cassie's house in Mona in 10 hours, a new record for us.
We had a great time in Utah. I got to practice with Traci three times. I also got a girls' night out with Karen and my sisters and lots of time with family. The girls got lots of cousin play dates and sleepovers. They both got individual time with Grandma and Grandpa. Grandpa took Emily and Avery to feed the horses. He played hide and seek with Emily. He went dog hunting with Avery. Grandma read lots of books and played lots of games with them both. As expected, none of us slept enough, but we made some fun memories.
Here is a pic I took with my phone of Trenton and Cooper at their track meet. Trenton loves to run distance events (just like his mama) and Cooper is getting really good at throwing the javelin.
On our last day, Cassie made us lunch and helped make the kids sock bunnies. Check out her blog for details. I'm so glad she blogs now, it helps keep me in the loop. Right before I loaded the car to leave, I snapped this pic with my phone. It was a crazy storm in the canyon! I was so glad my van has AWD, I totally needed it.
On Friday my mom went in for her shoulder replacement surgery. It went well, but the joint had deteriorated more than expected and she also required a bone graft. Hopefully she will recover quickly and have less pain in that joint. She suffers from osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Kate asked if she would eventually look like Darth Vader after all her surgeries.
Because my parents were gone Friday we headed south after our party at Cassie's and decided to stay at the Crystal Inn in Saint George. It was so much nicer than staying in Primm! I especially liked the breakfast after stopping at McDonalds way too many times.
After a long morning in the car, the girls and I were ready for some exercise and sunshine! We talked Ryan into going swimming with us in the 85 degree weather and it was heavenly. It was so strange to leave the blizzard for the pool. A nice kind of strange.
