While on vacation I read this memoir. I loved it! Jeannette Walls tells her story of growing up with parents who were basically homeless, dysfunctional, neglectful, and yet loved their children. The book is an easy read, inspirational, and educational. There are some adult topics, but overall it is clean. While reading, I kept noticing her use of the word "since" as a synonym for the word "because", which some people believe is wrong. Does this annoy anyone out there? Recently I have noticed my tendency to use the word the same way. For example, "since the baby is dirty, I gave her a bath." What do you think? Should I make the effort to alter my use of the word, or is it okay because (since) I'm not writing anything formal to just use it as Walls does?

I really loved this book. We read it last summer for book club - I wrote about it on my blog too! http://mommyandbeyond.blogspot.com/2007/04/book-club-glass-castle.html
I don't know about using since instead of because. I think I do it too - so go for it!
